Lighting Up Yellow:
Honoring International Holocaust Remembrance Day Across the Nation

On Monday evening, January 27th, 2025, the Empire State Building will shine bright in yellow to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day, in partnership with Voices for Truth and Humanity. This initiative is part of a broader "Light Up Yellow" campaign across multiple states, with landmarks and key locations illuminated in honor of the six million Jews and countless others who perished during the Holocaust. Participating States and Landmarks:
 

  • New York (NY): Governor Hochul and NYC Mayor Adams will light up major landmarks, including the Empire State Building, State Capitol, Niagara Falls, One World Trade Center, Grand Central Terminal, NYC Borough Halls, and more. Ceremonies will also be held at Nassau County Dome, Albany International Airport Gateway, and other key locations.
  • Connecticut (CT): Governor Lamont will light the Travelers Tower, the Slifka Center at Yale University, and other New Haven landmarks.
  • New Jersey (NJ): Governor Murphy will illuminate the State Capitol, Trenton Makes Bridge, Atlantic City casinos, and the Boardwalk.
  • Pennsylvania (PA): Governor Josh Shapiro and the First Lady will light the State Capitol, with a program at the Horowitz-Wasserman Memorial Plaza and other events across the state.
  • Virginia (VA): Outreach efforts are underway to the Governor and Mayor of Richmond.
  • West Virginia (WV): Outreach efforts are directed toward the Mayor of Charleston and the new Governor.
  • Kentucky: Louisville will participate in the campaign.
  • Arkansas: The State Supreme Court Building will be lit, alongside a legislative proclamation and outreach to the Governor.
  • Texas: A statewide effort led by all six Federations will include lighting the Governor’s Mansion.
  • Illinois: Chicago’s Willis Tower and other key buildings will participate, with the Mayor illuminating City Hall.
  • Minnesota, Milwaukee (WI), and Oklahoma: Participation includes the Skydance Bridge and Omni Bridge.
     
This collaborative effort unites communities across the nation in remembrance and reinforces the message to stand against hate, intolerance, and injustice.
